Friendly Lenny Saves a Penny
The following is a heart-filled tale of Lenny Gilkerson
Lenny Gilkerson was a lonely old man
Saved up his pennies by putting them in a can
He loved to purchase items for his kids
Always told the truth and never a fib
One day while in the market
Lenny approached the counter
Hashbrowns corn and a turkey
Which was a six-pounder
He sat his items down and the clerk rang them up
Lenny pulled out his wallet and opened it up
Twenty-five dollars even
The clerk said with a smile on his face
Hold on I don't have enough Lenny said
But double-checked just in case
Twenty-four dollars and ninety-nine cents
Was all Lenny had that day
He looked up at the clerk scared of what he would say
Don't worry about it my friend
Those words shocked poor Lenny
I'll cover you just this time
Friendly Lenny saved a penny
Thank you store clerk Lenny said so grateful
You better not be joking for that would be a mean one to pull
Of course I'm not joking I'm not some kind of goon
Lenny walked out and turned I'll see you real soon
Lenny saved a penny that day he smiled all the way home
When he got there ring ring he answered the phone
Is this Lenny Gilkerson a strange voice spoke out loud
Why yes it is what's going on your wife's body has been found
My wife's body Lenny said with a cough
Yes her body her head's been lopped off
The rest of the night Lenny cried like a baby
His wife had been murdered was she in heaven maybe
Up with Jesus and family members aplenty
And then he smiled and remembered
Friendly Lenny had saved a penny
